After rendering the atomic structure diagram, the finely woven structure looks like a mature ear of grain or a cloth woven with silk thread.
Numerous attempts were needed to produce the beautiful images. Microscope operators tirelessly adjusted samples selection and instrument parameters.
Sui Simi , a student at Tianjin University and the author of Rouge Begonia in Spring, said, "The process of shooting and then to shooting accurately and finally to shooting well stimulates our interest in further exploring microstructures. It also promotes our technical skills.
"The original intent of the competition was to utilize beauty to promote innovation and encourage students to combine the truth of science with the beauty of art with a rigorous scientific attitude and fresh artistic creativity."
Mao Jing, deputy director of the demonstration center, said the path of scientific research can be challenging, but there is also unexpected beauty.
"Through this competition, we hope to guide students to further explore the charm of materials science and the microscopic world, cultivate their interest in scientific research, further improve their ability to understand, discover and create beauty and improve their sample-making and testing skills," Mao said.
