Exhibition in Riyadh showcases art works created by Arab artists visiting China

RIYADH, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Some 40 art works created by Arab artists who visited China have been exhibited in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh to highlight the latest achievements of the China-Arab cultural exchanges and mutual learning.

The Dec. 8-9 exhibition, co-organized by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Saudi Ministry of Culture and Arab League, was held in the Palace of Culture.

During the event entitled "From the East to the East and the Selected Exhibition of Famous Arab Artists Visiting China," a traditional Chinese-Arabic folk musical instrument ensemble performed on the stage traditional Chinese instrument Zheng and traditional Arabic instruments -- the Qanun and Oud.

Since 2009, at the invitation of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, more than 170 artists from 21 Arab countries have visited China to create paintings, sculptures and ceramics, said the Chinese embassy in Saudi Arabia.

The artists have transformed what they saw, felt and thought during the visit into more than 500 works.

Meanwhile, four art works created by Chinese artists after visiting Arab countries were also shown at the exhibition.
