PHNOM PENH, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Three Cambodian electricity workers were injured on Thursday morning when one of them accidentally stepped on a cluster bomb in Oddar Meanchey, said a mine clearance chief.
Heng Ratana, director general of the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC), said the cluster munition explosion occurred along National Road 58 in Bosthom village of Banteay Ampil district's Kokpos commune when they were connecting electricity for villagers.
"This incident caused serious and minor wounds to three workers from S.N. electricity service provider," he said in a post on social media.
Again, I wish to appeal to all local villagers, private sector and public sector living and working in the affected areas to closely collaborate with local authorities or CMAC to prevent such incidents, Ratana said.
