Aircrafts from many countries pick up medical supplies in China

BEIJING, April 28 (Guangming Online) — Recently, aircrafts of all kinds from France, Russia, Spain, Iran and other countries have been to China to pick up medical supplies, making a unique scene amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among others, Antonov An-225 Mriya, the world’s largest aircraft for carrying oversized payloads, has been landed at Tianjin Binhai International Airport in north China’s Tianjing for three times since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Medical masks, protective clothing and other medical supplies are delivered to France, Germany, Russia, Mauritius and other countries in lack of medical supplies.

In an open, transparent and responsible spirit, China has been working with the world to fight COVID-19 since the outbreak and spread of the virus. As of April 22, the Chinese government has provided or is providing urgently-needed medical supplies to more than 150 countries and international organizations. China also facilitates commercial purchase in China for other countries, willing to help those in need.

“According to statistics from Chinese customs, from March 1 to April 4, China exported RMB 10.2 billion (about 1.4 billion dollars) worth of anti-epidemic supplies, including 3.86 billion masks, 37.52 million protective gears, 2.41 million infrared thermometers, 16,000 ventilators, 2.84 million testing kits and 8.41 million protective goggles.” Zhao Lijian, a spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, said in a regular press conference on Apr. 10.

“As of April 8, 58 countries and regions as well as four international organizations have signed contracts on commercial procurement of medical supplies with Chinese businesses, and another 71 countries and ten international organizations are in talks for such purchase. There are other foreign buyers cooperating with Chinese companies, too.” Said Zhao.

Global confirmed COVID-19 cases topped 2.8 million on Monday, reaching 2,878,196 as of 10 a.m. CEST (8 a.m. GMT), according to the COVID-2019 situation report of World Health Organization.
