YAOUNDE, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Cameroon has reported that 399 people were killed in violence in the country's Far North region in 2025.

In its December 2025 report published on Wednesday, OCHA said 457 people were injured and 562 others were abducted during the year.

"Furthermore, 24,808 people (representing 3,637 households) were displaced. These figures demonstrate the continued volatile security environment and the growing scale of humanitarian needs in the region," OCHA said.

Cameroon's Far North region has been experiencing insecurity since 2014, when Boko Haram began operating there. The terror group regularly attacks civilians and government forces. ■
